$1 to Cure Cancer
One Australian dies every 12 minutes from cancer. By the end of today, 330 Australians will have been told they have cancer.
This is why we are backing brave thinking and kick-starting new ideas in cancer research. We fund the top 1% of the brightest new projects led by brilliant emerging researchers whose bold new ideas are breaking new ground.
We have kick-started over 550 new cancer research ideas, which have led to numerous global breakthroughs, saving lives by doing things that have never been done before.
One of these game-changing projects was the development of the MR Spectroscopy by Professor Carolyn Mountford, a technique that can detect cancer in its early stages without requiring invasive surgery.
Our passionate community of fundraisers, corporate partners, researchers, and institutions, are taking on every cancer, no matter the size or rarity. We back ground-breaking research in childhood cancer, bowel cancer, prostate cancer, breast cancer, brain cancer, gastrointestinal cancer, bone cancer, immunotherapy and many more. We find the most impactful solutions to cure cancer and work together to bring these ideas to life in record time.
One example is the breakthrough research of A/Professor Orazio Vittorio, which revealed that removing copper from the blood can destroy some of the most lethal cancers that are resistant to immunotherapy. This was a big leap for childhood brain cancer and has been adapted for treating other cancer types. It will soon go to clinical trials.
Together, we have the power to bring about real positive change. At the heart of our work is a shared purpose and bold ambition. With the right combination of drive, resources, and imagination we can make the game changing impact needed to save millions more lives.
With over 10 million people dying from cancer worldwide every year, we dare to ask the one question that can change everything: What if we cure cancer?
We know we can.
