Founded in 1945 with the creation of the CARE Package®, CARE is a leading humanitarian organization fighting global poverty. CARE places special focus on working alongside girls and women because, equipped with the proper resources, they have the power to lift whole families and entire communities out of poverty. In 2021, CARE worked in 102 countries, reaching more than 100 million people through more than 1,400 programs. We celebrated our 75th anniversary and continued our Fast and Fair initiative, providing COVID-19 vaccine delivery to at least 100 million people.

CARE is responding to the enormous regressions around poverty and hunger – providing clean water, hygiene kits, nutritious food and income to millions of people who face the threat of malnutrition due to lockdowns or loss of income. CARE has expanded an innovative accelerated learning program for out-of-school adolescents helping more than 3 million students gain relevant skills. And, CARE has been responding to more than 44 urgent crises including Afghanistan, Haiti, Syria, and Ukraine. We are particularly concerned about the growing hunger crisis, and are launching a major campaign in the fall of 2022 to raise funds and awareness, with opportunities for individuals to join us on this impact journey as we seek a more equitable future for all.
